About the Author

Dora Musielak has loved mathematics since she was a child. She won her first math contest at six and her love for analysis led her to become a research scientist. Dora Musielak holds a Ph.D. in aerospace engineering and has taught science and mathematics courses at several universities, including the University of Texas. She also lectures on the role and contributions of women scientists and mathematicians.

Most recently, Dora published another inspiring book that address some of the most fascinating concepts of human space exploration and rocket science. The title of this book is Kuxan Suum: Path to the Center of the Universe . It opens with a prelude, a science fantasy that tells the story of a Mayan princess who travels through the Universe as a beam of light, and through her cosmic voyage she shows the reader how magestic and gorgeous our Universe is.

In the second part of the book the author explains the scientific facts behind the allegory in Kuxan Suum, highlighting especially the challenges of a cosmic journey, even moving at the speed of light. Starting with an overview of the origin of the Universe, Dora explains the nature of black holes, stars, and introduces the reader to extrasolar planets. The book also introduces the reader to rocket science, explaining in simple terms how a rocket travels to Earth orbit and how it can make it to the Moon or another planet.
